Frank W. Johnston

NY Law Enforcement Agency

Frank W. Johnston is currently a commissioned officer with a large police agency in New York State, following his time on patrol, as a road Sergeant, and as both a Uniform and Investigative Lieutenant.  With 19 years of law enforcement experience, he is currently both a senior member of emergency management and the coordinator of UAS operations.

 

His education includes a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Clarkson University), Certificate in Micro-Computing Technology (HVCC), Graduate Certificate in Emergency Preparedness (SUNYA) and culminates with an M.A. in Criminal Justice (SUNYA) for which he was awarded the Dr. Walter M. Francis Award for Excellence in Master’s Study.  He is a DCJS Certified Master Instructor, DCJS Certified Course Director, DCJS Certified Firearms Instructor, and Distinguished Pistol Expert, NYS certified EMT-B, along with holding a 2nd degree blackbelt in Taekwondo, and purple belts in both Combat Hapkido and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

 

Frank’s experience as an instructor spans his entire career, having been an Academy Training Officer, Emergency Medical and CPR Instructor, UAS Instructor, Leadership School Instructor, and the Officer In-Command of In-Service and Specialized Training, which includes Firearms, EVOC, EMS, and other disciplines, ultimately being recommended for his agency’s Unit Citation Award for leadership of his instructional team.  As one of the founders of his agency’s UAS program, he has both developed and instructed the training from basic to advanced classes, and has most recently taught at the State Preparedness Training Center and been a presenter at a large NYS DHSES conference. Frank's vast instructing experience sets him up to deliver your tailored From Crisis to Calm® program to your agency or organization.
